Recently listening to a Zoom webinar by a trainer for the Inner Origin business leaders he noted these five A’s; Awareness, Acknowledgement, Acceptance, Action, Accountability.
So I thought I would expand on them with my own meanings. You will have your own ways of thinking about these words. However, I hope I can provide you with some inspiration.
Occasionally we may experience some dark moments in our lives and with COVID making its presence known right now, for some people, these times can be darker. Being locked down with nowhere to go, no one to see or talk with can make those times even more dark.
If you, or someone you know, has lost your job or career you may be feeling lonely and disconnected with the world as you knew it. add tho that the stress of not being able to catch up with family who you know may be vulnerable, not only medically, but emotionally or physically. So – what can you do?
This is the time to take a look at your current situation and realize this experience won’t be around forever. When it is all over and freedom of movement has been relaxed you’ll feel so much more alive.
Take a moment to reflect on where you are right now and consider what you can do to assess your current state of mind. Write notes, or quotes, on a pad and record for your own reference your current thoughts and where they may have been two to four weeks ago.
This may give you some perspective as to where your train of thought is. Are you content with your current state of mind? Are you drinking more alcohol then before the lock down?
Here you may recognize that you have an issue, or that you are content with the way life is for you as you are busy with working from home, or just have more time to do what you love to do!
You may have read your notes from the last few days and considered them to see you may not be thinking the same thoughts you were last year.
Have you noticed a difference in the way you interact with people you’ve known for some time, whether it be for years or in the last few months? Has someone said to you that you seem different emotionally, or physically. Not showing as much confidence? Are your shoulders slumped forward?
In this stage you’ve recognised a problem and are able to see it for what it is! You have the option to continue the way you’re going, or, make the change to be where you want to be.
If you’ve accepted your current situation and feel you have no other alternative please talk with someone who thinks differently to the way you do and accept their thoughts
Here you know where you want to be with your thoughts and are keen to take what it takes to be in a very different head space. Talk with someone. Whether that’s a friend, family member, Lifeline or Beyond Blue. The action you take is the one that suits you at this moment.
There are many books around for you to learn a new emotional skill.
Physical exercise is also a great way to clear the mind and get the pheromones flowing. Picking up the phone and talking may help too!
Consider taking on a new business where you will be talking with people as you know you’ll need to be in a different head space depending on your conversation. Telemarketing is what I do and I need to have a smile on my face when talking with the person on the front desk so they feel better about the call themselves. Many times I hear the person at the other end of the line sound so much brighter when I call because of the smile in my voice.
Here, find a partner to also go on the journey with you and both have notes to ensure you’re on the right path to coming out the other side. This may be an exercise partner where you both agree that the other person can’t shy away and say it’s too hard. Or, just don’t feel like it today. With my experience of participating in Karate I have had many times where I didn’t want to train. However, I turned up and at the end of training I felt fabulous, sweaty and very positive emotionally. Age is not a barrier as I am 53 years old and another student is in her 80’s and we’re loving it.
You could find a partner and take on an online business where you agree to be accountable to each other to commit to building the business. You may also find you have learnt from your experience through this COVID and are able to help others on their journey. There is a movement going around the world and people are recognizing they can’t do it alone and that is why their finding communities to be involved and grow themselves and others. People stay connected and encourage others to live life and love it. Being involved they feel they are accountable to the other people in the group.
I am blind and find by keeping myself fit through my own exercise regime at home, working from home, and having an online business I am able to feel I make a difference to people lives. I mentioned above I participate in a Martial Art. My Sensei feels he keeps me accountable through the training and the Kata I am learning for the next grading on my journey. Karate may not be for you, however, there is a activity that will suit you. Get the heart rate up and the endorphins flowing.
As for other actions connect with me and we can discuss what suits you. Maybe it’s improving your food intake, going on a cleanse, adjusting the cleaning chemicals in your house/bathroom? Or, joining with someone to begin a business with a minimal fee. You may not succeed, however, you may crack it and be successful. Many people aren’t, you may be the right person to build a lifestyle where you can train people to follow a system to live their lives and take the action to improve their mindset, emotional health and financial situation.
